![]() In most if not all of the following Zelda titles the events and story leading up to the main adventure are an actual part of the game. Now, in the instruction manual of the original LoZ game there is a backstory that explains how and why our brave hero Link is in the Hyrule wilderness on a quest. STORY MODE: Here’s the new thing that we’ll explain. No fluff, just an immediate thrust into adventure and nostalgia! You start your game on the same “screen” that you do in the original. Since then, the core idea of immersion and the integration of Minecraft-homages have both developed into something even more epic! Let us tell you about what’s new.įirst off, the game will now have two “modes” that you can select from before beginning:ĬLASSIC MODE: This is the version you’ve known about. Ironically, our original vision and scope was a bit smaller as well, even by the time we took Polygon on a tour of the project. I don’t know why we said three years- I think we were just trying to cope with the enormity of the project in front of us, assuming we’d be vigilant enough to see it through at all… The hope is to release it within or close to the halfway point of this year, which would close development out a year and change earlier than our jokingly cited three year to complete estimate. (No really – the actual game map is fading in and out of this gif) We’re pleased to announce that the project is alive and well and still being developed!Īccuracy: Look closely for the comparison to the original map! However, every hour (lots of hours to go) brings us closer and closer to the release of this map! One year ago, we “unveiled” our project: to faithfully reboot the original game in a 3D, fully playable first person perspective as an adventure map in Minecraft.Ī few months later, we promised to update everyone on our progress on a more regular, weekly basis.Įvery week since we said that we totally failed to deliver! Thirty years ago (on this day), The Legend of Zelda was released. Updates! See below for links and some of the past updates on this project: It’s very much worth your time if you’re interested in map making and what is now possible. Thanks to u/GamerGuppy for both creating this trailer and contributing his skill to the project, namely the amazing boat wizardry that honestly is a major reason this project is technically possible at all. On average it isn’t much, however ultimately we don’t have any intention to stop until it’s done! As I say often, stay tuned & always feel free to reach out with any questions. This all has to do with how much time we can allocate to work on it each week. Well, as I’ve been happy to relay to those who’ve emailed us over the course of development, we are indeed still working hard on it BUT it is quite difficult to estimate when we’ll finally finish. ![]() Those that have been following our seldom documented progress on this project have probably been frustrated by both our lack of updates and our empty estimations of a release date of the finished product. We’ll keep a close eye on this video to see if Nintendo’s legal team makes any moves…but let’s hope they decide to let this one slide.“Coming Soon” probably needs an asterisk next to it! While this translation of The Legend of Zelda from NES to Minecraft is unbelievable, you have to wonder if Nintendo is going to swoop in and squash this project. The end result is absolutely staggering with how close it comes to the original game. This obviously presented all kinds of challenges and problems to tackle, but creator C1OUS3R was up to the task. The original Legend of Zelda has been painstakingly built in Minecraft with amazing accuracy, and even more impressive, this has all been done without any mods or resource packs. We can now add The Legend of Zelda to that list, as one dedicated Minecrafter has recreated the game in its entirety within the confines of Minecraft. That includes amazing replicas of real-life wonders, working computers, and various game tributes. People have been building all sorts of amazing things in Minecraft for years and years now. It’s quite likely Nintendo will find another way to bring out The Legend of Zelda once again, but while we wait to see where that lands, one fan has taken on the task of bringing Link and the gang to a very unfamiliar world. Plenty of us have played The Legend of Zelda, be it on the NES or through one of Nintendo’s many re-releases.
